Daybreak combines the principles of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and a supportive network of peers and professionals.
Daybreak was designed by clinical psychologists using data collected from over 100,000 members of Hello Sunday Morning. It provides immediate support, motivation, and advice that will help your patients change the way they drink.
Daybreak is appropriate for any drinking level, but all patients should be assessed for possible alcohol dependency. Dependency should be addressed before making significant changes to alcohol consumption. It is particularly useful for patients experiencing depression, anxiety or stress in their lives.
Daybreak is built on a treatment model of personal choice. Its goal is to help people make the choice that is right for them, whether that is complete abstinence or moderation.
Through Daybreak, patients can access trained health coaches via secure messaging within the app. These coaches will also support a patient to access more intensive, face-to-face services if required, but we always suggest they consult with their GP as the first point of call.
Daybreak is a low-intensity, structured alcohol support service that is accessible 24 hours a day through your mobile phone. It allows you to set goals, track your mood, engage with peer support and speak to trained coaches if needed.
GPs in the following PHN regions can currently refer their patients to Daybreak for free: Western Sydney PHN; Country SA PHN, Adelaide PHN; and Western NSW PHN. For other patients there is an annual cost of $59. To find out how to refer, or when Daybreak will be available for free to patients in your area, please contact the Primary Care Liaison Team at your local PHN.
To try Daybreak for yourself simply click here and register for a free two-week trial. Following that you'll be instructed to download the app on your iPhone or Android device and you can test the program for yourself.
